Day 17 --
A woman's "risk" of having a child with Down syndrome increases after age 35. This increase is because older eggs have a greater "risk" of improper chromosome division (which is what happens to chromosome #21 that causes Down syndrome). evening party garment by custom made
At age 40, my "risk" was about 1 in 100. We didn't know this statistic when Grant was born but I sure am glad we took the "risk". Life is all about taking "risks", some scarier than others. This "risk" was a win, win. We were ... getting a baby ! This baby just happened to be the 1 in 100. I'd say we are pretty darn lucky.
Neil Armstrong said "There can be no great accomplishment without risk." What a great accomplishment we have made, to make our family complete with Grant.
